Cochlear BAS (Bone Anchored Solutions) in Mölnlycke just outside of Gothenburg designs, develops and produces the bone-anchored Baha Systems currently used in several products; i.e. BP100, BP110 Power and Cordelle II. The company has grown rapidly in past years and will continue to do so through: Customer Motivation, Product Innovation, Operational Excellence, Organizational Leadership and Sustainable Value. Cochlear BAS has approximately 200 employees with a wide range of competencies such as mechanical, electro & bioengineering, design & product development, software development, audiology, clinical research, purchasing etc.
The Product Development Services department designs and develops all the accessories that are affiliated to hearing implants, such as softbands, headbands, packaging, cleaning tissues e.t.c. The department is also overall responsible for the internal PDM and CAD-system. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for mechanical engineering in the department according to objectives set in agreement with the manager. This applies to new products and accessories, as well as legacy products.
Accountabilities:
• Accountable for specific deliverables against targets within specialist job area.
• Provide contribution of ideas on systems and process methods to improve deliverables.
• Provide input and review of product and processes in own area.
• Introduce new technologies & significant product innovation.
• Design and execute validation and verification protocols and execution of verification and validation tests.
• Follow relevant quality procedures in order to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement.
Key Incumbent requirements:
Minimum:
• Engineering Degree or Engineering Certificate.
• Good knowledge of concept development and evaluation tools.
• Good knowledge of documenting work through reports and descriptions.
• Good writing and presentation skills.
• Fluent in Swedish and English.
• Ability to channel and facilitate open communication across functions.
• Result oriented personality and a strong commitment to precise deliveries.
Special skills for this role:
• CAD design expertise, preferably in ProEngineer/Creo.
• Good experience of Best Practice in mechanical design.
• Good experience of PDM-systems, preferably Windchill PDM-link.
• Knowledge in common manufacturing methods for ex. Injection Moulding.
• Knowledge in common measuring and test methods is meritious.
