The AkzoNobel Legal Group in the Nordics is now expanding its legal team with an additional senior commercial lawyer at the office in Gothenburg.

In the role as Senior Legal Counsel you will work in a truly international environment, focusing on safeguarding the strategic objectives of the company's businesses operating in or out of the Nordics and providing responsive legal advice on various legal issues in many dynamic markets and regions. You will handle matters with significant opportunity and exposure to AkzoNobel and interact with the most senior business leadership. We will expect you to, at all times, give due consideration to the interests of AkzoNobel as a whole.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a global organization and a large legal team of more than 80 lawyers worldwide with much co-operation, interaction and knowledge-sharing. The legal team in the Nordics will consist of four persons after this expansion.

Main responsibilities:
• Manage and provide legal advice and support to all businesses operating in or out of the Nordics
• Identify and manage legal and compliance risks
• Monitor, communicate and act on legal developments in the Nordics
• Collaborate and communicate with AkzoNobel Legal Group experts regarding their area of expertise and support AkzoNobel Legal Group practice group experts in such matters as requested
• Liaise with the European Business Area lawyers with respect to material legal matters in the Nordics
• Implement AkzoNobel Legal Group strategy and standards
• Manage outside counsel in the Nordics

• Legal Master Degree from an accredited law school with admission to at least one state bar
• 6 - 8 years of relevant working experience at a major law firm or in-house legal department (the time might include a period of service in a district court)
• Substantive knowledge in various legal disciplines (e.g. commercial and corporate law) and broad-based experience providing legal advice in the Nordic region
• Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements and legal documents
• Proven highly effective negotiator and facilitator
• Top level analytical, counselling, communication and interpersonal skills
• Sound and practical legal, ethical and commercial judgment
• Self-motivated with strong drive and ability to work collaboratively
• Excellent Swedish and English language skills (spoken and written)
Additional beneficial experiences include:
• Experience working in or with a global organization
• Knowledge/interest in Environmental Law and/or Litigation
• A working knowledge of litigation and dispute resolution dynamics, antitrust law and/or anti-bribery laws and regulations
