The Department of Social Work invites applications for a full time senior lecturer/lecturer in Social Work with focus on social work in healthcare.
The Department of Social Work is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Gothenburg. In an expansive and dynamic education and research environment, and with great citizenship, we give the social work education programme as well as comprehensive master's programmes, the Programme for Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy with focus on family as well as postgraduate education. The department has extensive international contacts and cooperations through various networks and agreements with universities around the world. The department conducts research in the area of social work, within the context of several profiles.
Job assignments: The job assignments mainly consists of teaching, research and cooperation with the surrounding society. The distribution between teaching and research is regulated in local policy. The duties also include being active in the development of the department. If necessary, some administration and management duties may occur. The job assignments mainly consists of teaching, tutorial and examination, within the social work program, the master's programs and/or freestanding courses as well ascontract education. The duties also include coordinating courses including course administration, to cooperate within and between courses, to be active in the development and research of the department of social work.
Qualifications: Qualified applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer in Social Work focus on social work in healthcare must have a have a PhD in Social work or another relevant field. The applicant must have showed pedagogical skills. The applicant must also have completed higher pedagogical education of 15 higher education credits or equivalent, alternatively, will be completing it within two year of employment. Regulations for the qualifications for academic position and the evaluation of these are given in Chapter 4, section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
Assessment: In assessing the qualifications, equal attention will be given to scientific and pedagogical skills.
For the assessment of scientific skills, special emphasis will be placed on documented skills demonstrated primarily through publications with high quality. Research within the Social works theory and methods, with focus on social work within healthcare and the area of mental illness/ social psychiatry isespecially meritorious. In addition, documented experience of participating in/obtaining external financed research projects will be assigned weight.
In evaluating the pedagogical skills, special attention will be given to proven experience of managing and planning education in social work. Experience of tutoring within the social work program will be accorded weight. Proven supervision of students in the first, second and third cycle is significant. Candidates are expected to have excellent Swedish language skills as well as the ability to teach in English.
Documented experience of two years of professional social work is a requirement. We welcome applicants with experience from social work within healthcare and/or social psychiatry. Applicants who hold a degree of Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Social care or Social education from university should be placedbefore other applicants with comparable merits. Active cooperation and interaction with external actors and the community at large will also be accorded weight.
General suitability with respect to the advertised position will be required. Special attention will be given to personal qualities required in order to be able to cooperate with others, internally and externally, as well as contributing to the development of the Department of Social Work education, and research activities.
