The teaching responsibilities include general Interaction Design classes on basic and advanced levels, as well as specialised classes in interaction technology and the philosophy of interaction design. The position also involves engaging in developing research at the intersection of interaction technology and philosophical and theoretical perspectives on interactivity, both at K3 and the university, including the research centre for Internet of Things and People.
In order to qualify for Senior Lecture at Malmö University, the candidate must have:
• A PhD in the area of Interaction Design or Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent academic merits or other professional competence of relevance and importance to the post advertised.
• Documented competence in research-based teaching and pedagogical development.
• Collaboration skills and an ability to engage with actors outside academia.
In order to qualify for this position, the candidate also must have:
• Ability to teach in English.
Selection criteria
Assessment of candidates is based on their degree of proficiency and ability with respect to the qualifications listed above. Scientific and pedagogical qualifications are the two main qualifications, and they are considered equally important in the assessment.
In judging the candidates' proficiency and ability, the following subject-related criteria will be used. The following qualifications are considered particular strengths, and will be weighted according to the order in which they are listed:
1. Qualifications related to philosophical and theoretical perspectives of interaction design, including phenomenological understandings of interactivity and design theory.
2. Qualifications related to the applied teaching, creation and investigation of emerging interaction technology in a designerly manner.
3. Qualifications demonstrating a central concern of interaction design and designerly orientation.
School of Arts and Communication (K3)
K3 is a multidisciplinary school with approximately 80 employees and 1000 full-time students. The school's education and research deal with media, design, art, culture and society and it plays an important role in the Öresund region's cultural life. K3 conducts international education at the Bachelor's and Master's level as well as doctoral programs within the research area New Media, Public Spheres and Forms of Expression. There are degree programs in subjects such as Interaction Design, Media and Communication Studies, Graphic Design, Product Design, English Studies, and Visual Communication. The school also offers a large number of independent courses.
