Senior lecturer in Anatomy
Location: Institute of Biomedicine, Göteborg
Institute of Biomedicine has a broad and extensive activity in terms of both research and teaching. In both these operational areas, our focus is on the basic understanding of the body's
cells, what they consist of, how they work, how their function is controlled by genes and how they interact with different types of microorganisms. Using this knowledge we try to identify
disease causing mechanisms as well as new options for diagnosis and treatment.

Anatomy is the part of biology that studies how organisms are built.
Job assignments
Responsibilities include teaching and course development for faculty undergraduate courses, mainly within the medical program, with course leader responsibilities. The position also includes research and graduate education. The successful candidate is also expected to perform other duties normally associated with a senior lectureship, such as administrative tasks.
Eligibility
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3-4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
Candidates must have a PhD degree as well as demonstrated research and teaching skills. Since
most of the anatomy teaching is within the medical program, a degree in medicine is a competitive advantage. The successful candidate should have extensive teaching experience in
anatomy.
Assessment
Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4,
Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
The emphasis will be placed primarily on teaching and scientific skills. Broad subject knowledge and experience from course development and various forms of anatomy teaching such as
dissections, lectures and tutorials on basic and advanced level is valuable. Experience of research
is an advantage as well as the ability to lead and develop. Consideration will also be given to the
ability to interact with the community. In addition will administrative skills and ability to cooperate be considered.
