We are growing our business within the in-vitro diagnostics segment which opens exciting opportunities for you who wants to be part of a fast-paced and stimulating development journey. You will be an essential part of our product development team with internal and external experts, developing a new rapid IVD diagnostic system as well as a second-generation R&D instrument. Our team consist of talented and experienced individuals, and we strive for a lean organization where each individual counts.

We are located at Karolinska Institute campus in Solna with modern facilities including product development, production, R&D labs, sales and marketing. We are in commercial phase with our first lab tools offering and in early development of a rapid IVD solution for severe infections. Company growth is rapidly accelerating with global instrument use within R&D applications.

As Senior engineer you will be a key member of the Engineering/Product Development team and play a central role within product realization as responsible for running design & development projects in close collaboration with Symcel research & application team as well as Operations. We have an increasing number of external development partners where you will to a large extent lead daily interactions with both internal and external colleagues.
Essential Responsibilities
Own, execute and monitor technically complex projects right from scoping to implementation
Create specifications for new product development
Assist in development of new product concepts and system architectures
Execute requirements of new product development project plans within a Design Control environment with creativity, resourcefulness and accountability to timelines and budgets
Responsible for establishing and maintenance of design portfolios of all Symcel products
Drive, document and interpret specifications and corresponding testing
Conduct risk management and usability studies
Participate in design review with engineering teams
Provide design options & tradeoff analysis to meet the product requirements
Collaborate closely with the team members to create solutions with compelling design and form-factors that meet design inputs, i.e., functional requirements, cost goals, regulatory, safety, environmental, reliability and interface standard compliance requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Masters or bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field or equivalent
Min 5-8 years' experience in medical device or IVD design and development
Project management
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Self-motivated with the ability to accomplish project goals with minimal supervision
Good documentation practices
Able to work on multiple simultaneous projects, tasks & programs to suit business needs
Work with cross-functional teams with clear focus on customer needs, cost and reliability of solutions provided
Should have good knowledge on the compliance requirement & regulatory landscape within the life science industry such as such as ISO 13485, FDA QSR or similar
Good understanding of relevant product design standards, UL, CE low voltage directive and EMC requirements
Knowledge about Software & Firmware Engineering principles
Flexible, pro-active, curious and goal oriented
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

IVD instrument and consumables development
Experience from automation solutions
Experience from working with system/software/Firmware/hardware/ Electrical requirements development and validation
Experience from embedded system design and microprocessor design
Understanding of analog, digital and power supply design fundamentals
Knowledge /experience from embedded systems firmware development for sensor control and algorithm development
