Our Surface Division (SRD) is looking for a passionate technical expert to drive our electrified systems for the entire division on a global scale, while synchronizing the requirements from the different production centers along with the customer needs, maintaining a focus on cost, speed to market, and use of cutting-edge proven technology. The position will report to the Global Electrification Program Manager and will be a part of the Global Electrification Program.
Your mission
As a Senior Electrification Specialist, you will be part of a small team of specialists and engineering managers in the global R&D organization. Your mission will be to understand and define power/energy demands of the surface applications and from that drive the next-generation electric powertrains while collaborating with both internal and external suppliers. You will support the Global Electrification Program Manager in developing an optimal technology roadmap for the future electrified powertrains in the surface drill rigs and associated infrastructure. This will be done while ensuring that this roadmap is continuously updated following the market trends, and its execution is continuously monitored.
You are expected to propose and motivate innovative electric powertrain solutions and prove its potential in our rigs with the support of our R&D engineers. You will be working with defining the requirements of the different components in electrified powertrains, be in the forefront of transforming the business and play a key role in reducing the climate impact on surface mining globally.
In this role, you will be working in close vicinity to one of the production centers. This means that there are great opportunities to see the final product of the projects, and to test and evaluate different solutions on actual machines during the projects.
Your profile
To enjoy the work, we think you have a genuine interest in technology and a desire to learn more about the products you are working with. We believe you have an MSc or Ph.D. level of education, along with a successful track record of driving technology innovation. You also have a proven experience in battery electric vehicles, power electronics, or motor drives.
As a person, you are innovative, willing to take responsibility and can work independently. Good collaboration skills are essential since the work is performed in cross-functional teams. You are eager to take initiatives and technically challenge the R&D engineers, while accepting being technically challenged yourself to achieve the best for Epiroc. You have a structured and analytical approach, where you combine theory and practice and the ability to deliver results according to the set goals. As this is a global role, good English communication skills both verbal and written are required. Chinese and/or Swedish language skills are a plus.
Location and travel
This position is located in Örebro, Sweden, and can be performed in a hybrid way. It is a way of working that offers flexibility and participation allowing for a better balance between work and private life, which also promotes well-being. The exact split between on-site and remote work is up to further agreement with the line manager.
Travel will be based on business needs. In case a candidate from a different country applies and is successful, local Swedish terms and conditions will apply.
