Exterior department within the unit Body & Trim develops most of what you see on the outside of the car. We are responsible for the entire process of construction of exterior systems such as glass, bumpers, moldings, lighting, and large injection moulded exterior plastic parts. We have the development responsibility for Volvo Cars all product families and the development work is done in close cooperation with our development suppliers. Development activities are carried out mainly in Gothenburg. You work in a creative environment where tomorrow's cars are shaped. We work in flexible cross-functional teams tailored to development tasks.
As a Senior Designer for Lighting System you will work in the section Lighting System which is responsible for the development of lighting systems for Volvo Cars all car models. This includes Headlamps, Rear Lamp, Fog Lights, Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) as well as system as Active high beam and marking lights. You will be working with developing projects from pre-program start to program start. The work is conducted in close collaboration with outside development suppliers
Main responsibilities
• Pursue concept development projects against the objectives and balance technology, time & cost requirements
• Understanding and break down system requirements to the component level
• Creating, preparing and releasing the technical documentation. The mission also includes monitoring, evaluating and analysing competitor's development of system solutions
• Design restriction models and setups for Exterior Lighting
Required qualifications
• Technical education at university level or equivalent
• Good knowledge of Catia V5 and other systems within VCC that manages drawings and 3-d models
• Driver's license B
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Knowledge and interest in Design as well as Electricity/Software/Hardware is meritorious
• Knowledge in KDP, TCE, Electra is meritorious
