We are now looking for a cost engineer within the area of metallic, sheet metal.
As a cost engineer, your main responsibility will be to calculate part prices and tooling investments, both in new truck projects and as a support to today's truck business. You will perform cost target setting and cost breakdowns of new and existing parts based on drawings or physical parts. To give advice on efficient designs for manufacturability and on material selection that fulfils the design criteria's is one of the important contributions in this role.
You will be involved early in the advanced engineering / concept selection phase, working closely with engineering and design teams. You will follow the products thru the development phases and then actively support the targets you have set in the sourcing process. In this position you will have the possibility to cooperate closely with many different parts of our organization such as buyers, engineers, project leaders and of course your engaged colleagues within the Controlling & Strategy department!

Also, to take your own initiatives, work independently in a structured and an analytical manner is key in a position like this. This position will give you the possibility to deal with negotiations and to visit suppliers and technical exhibitions to keep you up to date of current production methods, materials and future technologies.

Required knowledge/experience
To be successful in this position, you should have specialist knowledge in at least one of the following fields: Sheet metal stamping, tubing, fixtures, tool manufacturing and welding. Knowledge in other fields such as Forging, Casting, Machining etc. are considered to be a merit.
Furthermore, we also see that you should have the following knowledge/experience:
• B.Sc in Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience, such as manufacturing engineering, sales engineering or product development.
• Lean management in the automotive industry or in the supply chain
• (Engineer / Experienced technician / Manufacturing engineer / maintenance with a background of lean experience in the automotive industry or in the supply chain)
• Knowledge in CAD and finance is an advantage
• Team player with high interpersonal and communication skills and a cultural awareness
• Analytic mindset and ability to drive projects independently
• As we are a truly global and diverse company, most of your meetings and communication will be in English, hence the need to be fluent in both speaking and writing in English
