What you will do
Your main responsibility will be to calculate part prices and tooling investments, both in new projects and as a support to current business. You will perform cost target setting and cost breakdowns of new and existing parts based on drawings or physical parts.

You will start early in the advanced engineering/concept selection phase, working intimately with engineering and design. You will follow the products thru the development phases and then actively support the targets you have set in the sourcing process.

Another part of Cost Engineering work is to support the change management process, calculating impact in tooling and product cost.

In this work, it's important to cooperate with many different parts of our organization such as buyers, engineers, project leaders, module managers and of course your colleagues within the Controlling & Strategy department.

Who are you?
Are you interested in technology linked to cost and have a solid manufacturing background in one or more of the following areas:
* Sheet metal & welding
* Casting
* Forging
* Machining
* Product assemblies with different manufacturing methods

We are in the expansive phase of our cost engineering department and are growing with the technology shift that is now happening in the market.

Ideally it would be beneficial if you already hold a CE position today, in the supply chain or in another OEM, alternatively you're an experienced manufacturing/development engineer.

With the change in technology, we are happy to employ people with future manufacturing experience like, for example, batteries, hydrogen fuel cell technology applies for this position.

We are today approximately 70+ CE experts globally that cover the most technologies and we're looking forward to a new colleague in the metallic team.

Qualifications
You have as a minimum a B.Sc in Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.

General about Cost Engineering
In your daily work you will be an active partner with PD supporting with Design to Cost - giving industrial engineering support giving advice on efficient designs for manufacturability and also on material selection that fulfils the design criteria.

You will be an active partner in negotiations together with purchasing both in the initial sourcing and in the change management process.

You will be required to be able to take in-depth technical discussions with suppliers in their production lines or lay-outs about cost drivers and investments.

In the change management, you should be able to understand the impact on dies/tools and be able to transfer this into cost

You will be required to frequently visit suppliers and technical exhibitions. This is to stay updated on current production methods and materials. Additionally, it will help you familiarize yourself with future technologies to be used when our vehicles go into production.

As a person you are easy to cooperate with and are willing to contribute to the team. You are also able to take your own initiatives and can work independently. It's important that you are analytic and structured. We also believe you have an interest in both the commercial and technical aspects of our products and projects and that you are comfortable with negotiations.

Since we are a global company almost all our communication is in English, and it's therefore necessary that you are fluent in writing and speaking English. A merit is having any kind of international background. It's especially beneficial if you're accustomed to working with European companies and cultures, considering many new projects are developed in Europe.
