Position Description - Senior Commodity Buyer Strategic/Tactical Marketing Services and Business Intelligence

In this role as Senior Commodity Buyer and Segment Owner for the segments Strategic/Tactical Marketing Services and Business Intelligence, you will focus on developing and ensuring implementation of global purchasing strategies.

As a Segment Owner you will have the global sourcing and purchasing responsibility including e.g. optimizing the supplier base, securing competitive and quality assured agreements, developing best practice purchasing processes, benchmarking, etc. You will also be leading or supporting sourcing events and project negotiations in collaboration with operational buyers.

Additionally, an important part of the job is to interact and collaborate with Volvo Group stakeholders as well as to represent IPS in related key stakeholder forums.

You will be a part of the Professional Services & Travel (PS&T) commodity, together with an international team of Commodity Buyers all responsible for other PS&T segments. PS&T includes segments related to e.g. contingent workforce, human resources services, financial services, management consulting, communication agencies, market research, travel & conference, etc.

You will report to the Commodity Manager for Marketing & Travel.

The position is preferably based in Gothenburg (SE) but Lyon (FR) or Greensboro (US) can potentially also be accepted. Interviews will be carried out on an on-going basis.

Travel is required occasionally.

Main responsibilities
• Manage the purchasing portfolios from a global strategic perspective
• Develop and optimize segment strategy and purchasing process to support Volvo's strategic objectives
• Strengthening Volvo's competitive advantage by understanding the business needs and the supplier market
• Coach operational buyers in the purchasing process
• Manage and develop the supplier base for the segments, using categorization, segmentation, evaluation, etc. in order to establish the appropriate levels of relationship
• Prepare and report Key Performance Indicators development to key stakeholders
• Lead or support large/regional/global sourcing projects or ad-hoc purchases within the segments
• Manage purchasing, stakeholder and supplier networks for the segments
• Drive synergies and share best practices within the Volvo Group
• Be the purchasing center of expertise for the purchasing portfolios within the Volvo Group

Essential Skills and Needed Experience
• University degree in technology and/or business
• Purchasing experience (sourcing, negotiation, contracts, legal, supplier management, etc.)
• Preferably previous experience from working with marketing purchasing activities
• Strong project management knowledge
• Strong analytical skills
• Results oriented and open minded attitude
• Experience from working in an international environment
• Continuous improvement skills
• Social competence: a team player with a high level of integrity
• Very good communication and argumentation skills at all levels
• Fluent in English
