Senior Analysis Engineer - Turbo Gas-Stand

The section Advanced Engineering is responsible for delivering the engine and fuel strategy for Volvo Car Group's Engine program. One of our key deliveries is to lead engine related advanced engineering and to lead section related technologies towards different engine programs in the concept phase. Volvo Cars has been developing a new Hot Turbo Gas-Stand for performance and NVH evaluations of boosting systems, turbochargers and superchargers, complete induction system of engines together with air charge coolers as well as exhaust after treatment system.

As Senior Analysis Engineer - Turbo Gas Stand you will be responsible for Volvo Car Group's turbo gas-stand (boost rig) for performance evaluation. You will work closely with the technical leaders on gas-exchange, turbocharger, supercharger and e-chargers in engine engineering department. You will coordinate and perform measurements of boosting systems of passenger car engines from a simple turbocharger to more complex boosting systems. An important part of the job is the analyses of the test data and evaluation of different boosting systems. Most of your time would be spent in the test rig and you will be responsible for creating new formats and routines in the test cell. If you would like to work in a completely fresh and newly-built measurement laboratory and skilled in flow measurements (turbo gas-stand or engine test rig), you should apply for this position.

Main responsibilities

• Measuring performance maps of turbochargers (turbines and compressors) and superchargers (compressors)
• Measuring performance of complex boosting systems
• Flow and thermal measurement of the complete boosting system with induction systems and exhaust after treatment systems
• Analysing and evaluating test data for each specific test
• Method implementation for data analysis and for different boosting systems
• Test rig planning and coordinating the requested tests
• Participation in the further development of the test rig in terms of hardware and software
• Supporting all the NVH measurements in the test cell
• Collaboration with advanced engineering, boosting and EGR, dressed engine, powertrain control and drive line installation groups, sections and departments
• Collaboration with our partner universities, for instance supporting PhD programs or defining thesis works

Required qualifications

• B.Sc Mechanical engineering, energy, aerospace or similar fields. M.Sc is meritorious
• Experience in analysis of data
• Knowledge in fundamentals of turbocharging
• Knowledge in fundamentals of engines
• Good knowledge and experience in Matlab, Excel
• Fluent in English ,written and spoken
• Experience of working in a turbo gas-stand is highly meritorious
• Experience of working in an engine test rig is meritorious
