The Protein Prep & Purification Applications section reports into the Purification & Analysis R&D department, that consists of approx. 90 employees divided into six different sections. The Applications section consists of 11 team members.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Purification & Analysis R&D Department is responsible for development of protein purification tools (Protein Prep & Purification) as well as protein interaction instrumentation (Biacore) The department is multidisciplinary and is responsible for new product development and support of existing products and driving innovation & research.
The Protein Prep & Purification Applications section is responsible for development of new protein purification chromatography resins and applications, handbooks, training material, instructions for use, requirement specifications. The section also provides technical support and Market Support activities, such as event & scientific conference support, sales support, trainings, marketing material and customer collaborations.
We are now looking for a self-driven accountable Scientist focusing on development of new protein purification chromatography products and applications development for such products, including working with research, technical support and market support activities. The daily work involves mainly laborative tasks (individually or in project team), but also preparation of written technical material.
The position includes active participation in research and development projects; develop applications and protein purification methods, writing requirement specifications, develop product concepts, supporting system verification and validation, and supporting chromatography resin development for small scale protein purification.
The position also involves scientific leadership by supporting colleagues, providing technical and scientific Market support to Customers, Sales and Marketing functions with focus on Protein prep & Purification products, such as customer collaborations, strategic customer relations, event support (e.g. participation at conferences and user days), and development of application related marketing material (e.g. Application notes, Datafiles, presentations and posters at scientific conferences).
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Strong interest and skills in practical laboratory work
• Considerable knowledge and experience of Biotechnology/Biochemistry or related science
• MSc from relevant life science discipline
• Technical-, application knowledge and practical experience in protein purification, sample preparation and analysis of biomolecules
• Experience from work in multidisciplinary environments
• Proven ability of planning, executing and evaluating analytical & preparative experiments
• Very good communication skills (both written and spoken), including presentation skills
• Goal-oriented team worker
• Scientific leadership skills
• Fluent in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
Desired Characteristics:
• PhD degree, from relevant life science discipline
• Experience of market/customer support and customer relations
• Experience from GEHC laboratory scale products for protein purification and sample preparation of biomolecules
• Market understanding and business awareness
• Knowledge & experience from product development, both systems and consumables
