www.ifs.se supports low and lower middle income country scientists working in theirhome countries or other IFS eligible countries to advance knowledge on the sustainable management, utilization and conservation of biological, water and energy resources. Support is primarily in the form of research grants. IFS also provides capacity for support such as proposal writing and science communication workshops. Currently, IFS supports over 1,800 scientists in 105 countries.
The granting and supporting program is currently organized in three research clusters. Primary responsibility for managing and developing the scientific content of these clusters lies with our Scientific Program Coordinators. The Program Coordinators are assisted by Program Administrators who are responsible for the administrative aspects connected to the IFS programs.
As one of three Scientific Programs Coordinators you:
• Have overall responsibility for plant and soil science related topics within the IFS program
• Coordinate the granting process, which includes the pre-screening of applications; referral of applications to advisers for evaluation; organizing, chairing and recording Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meetings and maintenance of all related records
• Prepare relevant documentation from the SAC meetings
• Manage the grantee's capacity enhancing activities
• Maintain contact with the grantee throughout the research period
• Organize and coordinate workshops and scientific meetings in collaboration with partner organizations
• Promote and disseminate information about IFS through international contacts and travel
• Develop and maintain links with relevant world-wide organizations and networks
• Maintain, recruit and promote contact with current and potential scientific advisers
• Keep up to date and well informed within your scientific fields
• Contribute to the development of the IFS programs
Candidates with a strong background in plant-based natural resources management, agronomy, agro-forestry, or a related scientific discipline are encouraged to apply. Background knowledge related to biodiversity, agro-ecology, soil science and / or climate change issues are also useful.
Preferably, have a PhD or equivalent degree, experience in plant-based natural resources management, agro forestry, or a related scientific discipline. Background knowledge related to biodiversity agro-ecology, soil science and / or climate change issues are also useful
• Have experience in working with people and institutions in developing countries
• Be fluent in English and have a good working knowledge of French
• Be able to travel internationally
• Have experience of and / or work in a changing international environment and have the ability to relate to many different cultures
• Be well organized and able to communicate effectively and professionally in English
• Meet deadlines and work well in a team.
The IFS Secretariat, with a staff of 11, is located in a pleasant and modern office space in Stockholm. We are an international staff with English and French as the official IFS languages.

The position is immediately available and is for one year with a possibility of prolongation.
