Within the Systems/Controls and Product Support unit we need to reinforce our Design Engineer Team with a Robust Design Method Engineer. Our department, Design and Configuration Management covers the competence areas of Configuration Management, Design Management and Robust Design Method Development.

Job description:
As a Robust Design Method Engineer you will be a vital part of a team that works with Robust Design implementation. This is a focused area of in our efforts to improve our design capabilities for todays and future Aerospace products. Our partners are Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) within the Jet Engines area both in Europe and North America.
Our company's aggressive goals within Project and Product Cost, Technical Requirements and Producability require enhanced application of Robust Design methods. Our team has the responsibility of identifying these needs within Product Development Projects and Technology Development Programs.
Our task is to develop and implement methods to the Global Development Process based on the identified needs. We will also educate and support a secure utilization of the Methods.
The team also functions as expertise and supports people and processes in the area. The support is conducted within cross functional teams which are represented by engineers in the fields of stress & aerodynamic, configuration controls, definition/design, materials, manufacturing, purchasing, instrumentation and testing. You will be working with these people both as partners and internal customers.
Besides working within an internal network at Volvo Aero we are also interacting with other Volvo companies and global institutes and universities.
Your scope of work will be:
Plan and lead the implementation of Robust Design methods which secure that technical targets and project goals are met
Contribution to the Robust Design Team's efforts in implementing the Methods in our organization and Global Development Process
Educate and support Design Engineers both internally and externally in performing Robust Design activities
Point of Contact for Robust Design Methods
Qualifications:
You are an engineer with at least an MSc degree education or equivalent
You have good skills of Robust Engineering, Statistical Methods, and Design for Six Sigma or equivalent Methods
You have good understanding of Product Development, preferably within the Jet Engines area, as well as experience within management
You have a good ability to understand internal as well as external customers' needs
Good communication skills and the ability to take lead within improvement programs are necessary
