hela Sverige The School of Science and Technology is seeking a researcher in biology for a fixed-term appointment at Man-Technology-Environment (MTM) Research Centre.
Duties and responsibilities
The main duty is to perform research on safety of engineered nanoparticles (ENM) from additive manufacturing in collaboration with industry partners. The project is a teamwork between the research environments MTM and the Inflammatory Response and Infection Susceptibility Center (iRISC) at Örebro University, and the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AMM) at the Örebro University Hospital. The research involves assessment of ENM exposure, ENM characterization, ENM toxicological mode of action, and ENM health impact. The main duties are to develop and set up in vitro toxicity tests, and to plan and conduct toxicity testing to assess cellular effects and modes of action of ENM. The tasks also include coordination of the project. Other duties include sampling at the industrial facilities and general maintenance of the cell culture facilities and dissemination of research results.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a position as a researcher the successful candidate should have a PhD degree in biology or related subjects with focus on biomedical sciences, environmental health, toxicology or equivalent.
Assessment criteria
Documented practical experience and skills in toxicity testing using cell culture systems is required. Experience in particle toxicology research is an advantage. The successful candidate should be thorough, ambitious, positive, highly motivated and have the ability to cooperate and to be a team-worker, as well as to work independently. Proficiency in written and spoken English is a requirement.
Information
The position is a six month position (80-100%) with possibility of extension. The salary depends on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience in relation to the tasks.
