Stora Enso Consumer Board products are used for demanding end-uses such as liquid packaging, cigarette, food, pharma and luxury packaging and graphical products. Consumer Board operates five mills in China, Finland and Sweden.

At Stora Enso Consumer Board division, we have a meaningful role in driving this transformation. The past years have been successful for us in terms of productivity and efficiency. We continue to follow a path of continuous improvement and we need to step things up to ensure value creation on our journey to becoming the world's leading virgin-fibre-based board supplier.
Innovation and R&D in Consumer Boards division develops new renewable cellulose materials for consumer packaging applications. The unit also produces demonstrators and packaging prototypes of the developed materials in its potential field of applications. Projects are launched within the whole scope of developing and introducing new material and solutions to the market.
We have now two open positions for a Researcher in our Product Safety and Purity team. One position is fixed term (app. 1 year) parental leave substitution at our Research Centre in Karlstad, Sweden - another is permanent vacancy at Research Centre Imatra, Finland.
Description
The Product Safety and Purity team is part of the global product safety network within Stora Enso Consumer Board, with representatives from each production unit and research centers within the division. Tasks involve supporting the development of new material as well as supporting the continuous production at the production units. As a member of the Product Safety and Purity team you will be contributing actively R&D-projects to coordinate product safety and purity testing, interpreting food contact legislation, evaluating product safety information from suppliers, assessing test results, and communicating with stakeholders.
The position requires good interpersonal and cultural skills and the ability to structure your tasks. It also offers a good opportunity to further develop your skills and network while working with key stakeholders within the area of product safety and purity.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you have a master's degree in relevant science (e.g. chemistry), combined with experience of project work. In addition, you have experience with food contact legislation and product safety work. Knowledge on sensory analysis will be considered as a merit.
You have excellent skills in English, the ability to act independently and with good own initiative and accuracy. Very good analytical ability and ability to collaborate in project work with colleagues within and outside Stora Enso's research organization. Good overall understanding of the research area and its importance for the operations of Stora Enso, as well as overall industry knowledge is also needed.
