The Process and Product Development Department is responsible for applying fact-based knowledge and scientific methodology to secure and improve the efficiency of the production processes and the competitiveness of the products, and to develop LKAB's other sustainability goals. Whatever the form of work, all our work takes place in collaboration with other organisations within the company and also with external parties. The Product Development research team is responsible for providing LKAB with safe, cost-efficient and environmentally effective product concepts that support the company's long-term goals. Publiceringsdatum2018-03-22Om tjänstenAs a research engineer, your primary task is to carry out research into and the development of LKAB's processes and products. As well as independently evaluating technical and scientific material, the position requires an ability to communicate in a factual, credible way, both internally and externally. Work will include lab, pilot and full-scale studies into the long-term development of iron ore products. LKAB has advanced equipment on a laboratory scale (e.g. the Agglomeration Laboratory in Malmberget) and on a pilot scale (Experimental Blast Furnace in Luleå), on which you will be working. The work also involves full-scale studies in our production facilities. You will work independently and also be a member of various project groups and teams. Our business is assignment- or project-based and we work with various time horizons, in the relatively short term on development issues and in the long term on strategic issues. The position is based in Luleå, but our assignment also includes our other operational locations.
KvalifikationerWe are looking for someone with scientific or technical qualifications at higher education level, specialising in Metallurgy or Chemistry. Theoretical and practical experience of ore-based metallurgy, especially direct reduction, is an advantage. It is also useful if you have experience of working on the development of methodology and quality assurance. The role also includes creating or being part of networks, internally within LKAB and externally, primarily in higher education, research institutes and suppliers in both Sweden and the rest of the world. Good English skills are therefore a requirement. You find it easy to work independently, in teams and in project groups.
