Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) seeks a Researcher to conduct research and advisory work on the private sectors potential to contribute to security and economic development in Afghanistan

Context
Established in 1966, SIPRI is consistently ranked as one of the world's top think tanks. The institute is dedicated to independent research into peace, conflict and security and is known worldwide for its flagship publication, the SIPRI Yearbook, and its databases. SIPRI is based in Stockholm, and has well-established partnerships and operational networks across the globe.

SIPRI is currently conducting a project with a partner organisation with the purpose of jointly examining the position and potential of Afghanistan's private sector in view of the country's status as a fragile state and its upcoming security transition. The purpose of the project is to identify achievable and realistic long-term objectives and policy recommendations, which will benefit the development of the private sector and the business environment during Afghanistan's 2015 to 2024 transformation period.

Eligibility requirements
SIPRI seeks a dynamic individual with the potential to make an outstanding contribution as a researcher and project leader to this project. Applicants must have demonstrated project management skills; a track record in working with governments, international and national organizations, as well as involvement in research and advisory activities; and a detailed understanding of policy debates and processes in the field of private sector development.

How to apply
To apply, send a short cover letter, your CV (including a list of publications), two samples of recent work; and the names of three referees to berger@sipri.org . The initial closing date is 10 September 2014. Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
