The Institute of Biomedicine is involved in both research and education. In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of micro-organisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them.
The Institute is composed of the following five departments:
• The Department of Infectious Diseases
• The Department of Microbiology and Immunology
• The Department of Pathology and Genetics
• The Department of Clinical Chemistry and Transfusion Medicine
• The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology
At present, the institute has about 350 employees and approximately 290 million SEK in total assets.
Job assignments
The job assignment includes teaching and examination within the Degree Programmes Medicine, Pharmacy and Biomedical Laboratory Science and involves biochemical aspects on basic intermediary metabolism. The candidate is expected to contribute to development of material for students on basic intermediary metabolism suitable for the programmes mentioned above.
Qualifications
The candidate should have high academic qualifications documented as a PhD degree and a docentship. The candidate should also have considerable experience as a teacher and examiner for the educational programmes Medicine, Pharmacy and Biomedical Laboratory Science within the field intermediary metabolism. The candidate should also have very good knowledge of the Swedish language.
Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 6 months and part time 25% with placement at the Institute of biomedicine. First day of employment as agreed.
