Medical Chemistry and Cell Biology has a strong research environment with clinical applications in cancer, cell biology, immunology and infectious biology. Medical and Physiological Chemistry is located at Medicinareberget, with more than 250 employees and 115 research students, distributed among 30 research groups. A research group engaged in international medical research lead by Dr Niclas Karlsson is now looking for a researcher (emplyoment until 31st December 2017) in mass spectrometric glycoanalysis.

Beskrivning av arbetsuppgifter: The work is varied and consists mainly of: Sample preparation of glykopeptides from MS analysis. Interpretation of MS data Report writing Scientific writing and oral presentations The candidate is expected to prepare clinical and recombinant assays for analysis, maintain the instrument and laboratory of the group, interpret data from mass spectrometry, develop and apply new mass spectrometric methods relevant to the group's glyco research, and contribute to the group's biodatabases and bioinformatics with data and validation of bioinformatics tools. Interpretation of data includes identification of glycopeptides and carbohydrates. The candidate should be able to present the results of the research both verbally and in writing, and be a representative of the group at international meetings and conferences.
Beskrivning av kvalifikationer: We are looking for a qualified PhD in the field of glycoanalysis and glycopiology. You should be able to handle modern mass spectrometers and interpret MS data both by hand and with use search engines for protein MS. You are trustworthy, responsible and committed. Furthermore, you are service-oriented, accurate and able to independently structure and organize your daily work, as well as collaborate with others. We value personal suitability highly.
