Institute of Medicine is the largest Institute at the University of Gothenburg. Our activities cover a broad area of knowledge, where we conduct successful research, from molecules to the community. The research covers several of the
major endemic diseases, including Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes, Obesity and Arthritis. Other strong areas are Public Health and Community Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Hematology and Gastrointestinal Research. A new research field within innovation and entrepreneurship is being formed. We are responsible for a large part of the teaching of medical practice, all of the Public Health Program and the Dietitian Program, and parts of the training of Biomedical Technicians and Pharmacy. The Institute of Medicine has almost 280 registered postgraduate students.

The project is focused on the transfer of genetic material (eg RNA) to cells via various types of vehicles, so-called "Gene-Delivery-Vehicles" (GDVs). We are interested to gather information about the RNA transfer to cells as well as how it is processed intracellularly.

Job assignments:
The project aims to identify the fate of transferred RNA in cells, e.g. translocation, translation, and degradation. However, the purpose of this short study is to perform experiments along these lines using e.g. RNA FISH, RNA hybridization,
Image streaming and qPCR.

Qualifications:
The applicant must have a doctoral degree in the appropriate field and have good academic skills in the subject area, specific within RNA biology, including biochemistry of RNA-binding proteins.
