The Faculty of Medicine is a part of Lund University, and is responsible for education and research within medicine and healthcare. Our academic programmes are closely linked with the healthcare system and are firmly anchored in the faculty's strong research tradition. Our research spans a broad field within experimental basic research, healthcare and near-patient research. The Faculty of Medicine, with its 1,800 employees and 2,700 students in Lund and Malmö, is a knowledge-intensive meeting place for students, teachers and researchers from all over the world.

Job description:

The successful candidate will lead research within induced pluripotent stem cells applied to neuroscience.

The candidate will also lead and supervise a research group composed of students on different levels, master students, PhD and postdocs. Other responsibilities are managing a research laboratory, write and publish scientific reports, raise external founding, and review grants and manuscripts.

Qualifications:

• The applicant must hold a PhD in neuroscience, and a Docent in competent field of research.

• The applicant must have a proven record of teaching and scientific qualifications at both national and international levels.

• The applicant must be able to raise own funding and be capable of supervising students at all levels (master, PhD and Postdoc), and a proven record of managing a research laboratory

• The applicant must be proficient in induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) work and must have been trained abroad in an internationally recognized laboratory which focus was on iPSC research applied to CNS diseases. 

• The applicant must have published at least two scientific reports as last and corresponding author in the field of stem cell research.

• The applicant must have a proven record of additional activities such as reviewing of grants and manuscripts The applicant should have a proven record of raising external funding, and be part of international consortia.

• The applicant must be proficient in English and a good team player.

• The applicant must present a clear description of past, ongoing and future work, and how his/her recruitment will reinforce neuroscience in Lund.

Terms of employment:

Temporary position for 1 year, with the possibility of extension.
