We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Veterinarian to help us shape the future of medicine!

As a Research Veterinarian you will combine a solid clinical experience with strong scientific research background in laboratory animal science (small and large animals).

You will get the opportunity to work in a team with a passion for innovate and work closely with other LAS scientists and veterinarians at AstraZeneca in delivering innovative in vivo technologies across AstraZeneca.

The position will be based within the Laboratory Animal Sciences (LAS) department at AstraZeneca Gothenburg, Sweden which supports all in vivo studies in partnership with diverse multi-disciplinary teams across the company.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The role as Research Veterinarian is an exciting and diverse one and includes providing excellent veterinary clinical care to laboratory animals and contribute with expert veterinary knowledge in animal physiology, animals welfare, health monitoring and ensure compliance to laboratory animal legislation. Supporting the development and refinement of in vivo models and methodologies as a member of multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust and translationally robust animal models. Designing, plan and execute research on Animal Welfare and the 3Rs (refinement, replacement and reduction) in collaboration with other LAS scientists and drive the publication of posters, presentations and articles in peer-reviewed journals and contributing to the professional training and development of other AstraZeneca in vivo scientists.

Essential Requirements
Veterinary degree with solid experience in laboratory animal science (particulary in rodent, dog and pig models);
Knowledge of Swedish and EU regulatory requirements for in vivo research;
Strong communication skills with fluency in English/Swedish;

Desirable Requirements
Master degree or PhD in Veterinary Sciences/Biological Sciences;
Relevant post-graduate laboratory animal qualification (eg Dip ECLAM, ACLAM or CertLAS) or eligibility to achieve such qualification;
Expertise in the development, validation and execution of laboratory animal models in an pharma industry setting;
Proficiency in veterinary surgery (including analgesia and anaesthesia) and in vivo imaging;
Work experience in AAALAC-accredited animal facilities;
Strong track record on scientific publications;
