Are you curious about our new equipment for melt spinning? Do you want to develop the fiber material of the future together with us, our partners and customers? Then we are looking for you!

About us
The Fiber Development unit is recruiting a research scientist in melt spinning for the team in Mölndal, Sweden.

We are looking for you who are an experienced and driven researcher in polymer processing and/or textile fiber development, ideally with melt spun fibers as an area of expertise.

Our operations in Mölndal have Sweden's largest laboratory for fiber development. Here we create and evaluate the fiber materials of tomorrow, with a strong focus on functionality, sustainability and resource efficiency. Our team develops and offers expertise, manufacturing methods and material analyses throughout the value chain from raw material to end product. You will be an important team player in a committed unit with cutting-edge expertise, and will be expected to work in close collaboration within the team and with our customers and partners.

About the position
With us, you will initiate and/or collaborate in research projects as well as in applied research and development assignments with industrial customers. Together with the team, you will work towards our goal to be a competitive innovation partner in the field of sustainable and functional melt spun fibers. You will be expected to stay actively updated on the research front and on the needs of industry, as well as being able to identify and being open to new opportunities for collaborations in technology and materials development.

Important and relevant tasks in the role are:

- Direct involvement in melt spinning experiments and characterization of polymers and fibers
- Ideation, innovation and problem solving on topics including: - Polymer-material development towards fiber spinning
- Fiber and melt spinning process development towards new functionalities
- Recycling of textiles and use of recycled feedstock for textile fibers
- And more...

- Contact with customers and partners in the polymer and textile industry and academia
- Project management and initiation of new projects and assignments
- Build internal and external networks. Interdisciplinary work is highly encouraged
- Applying for grants and building research consortia

Who are you?
We expect you to have a Master's and probably also a doctoral degree in materials science/polymer technology or an equivalent subject area relevant to the position. You have specialist knowledge in polymer processing, and an understanding of the relationships between polymer structure, flow properties and thermo-mechanical characteristics of thermoplastics. Several years of practical experience in fiber development, preferably within melt spinning, will be a great advantage. Curiosity and an eagerness to learn will also go a long way. To succeed in this role, you should be motivated to develop new fiber materials based on various societal challenges as well as issues and wishes from our customers. You can express yourself well in both speech and writing in English. Experience of funding application work is an advantage. As a person you are enterprising, driven and structured with a good ability to work in teams.

Are we right for each other?
At RISE, we appreciate differences and we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where we together challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and skills for the future. With us, passionate problem solvers meet to solve some of the world's most important problems. We can not promise you an easy job, but what we can promise you is a team of committed colleagues and some really exciting societal challenges to tackle. You will work in a dynamic environment that gives you development opportunities both professionally and personally. With us, you get the opportunity to make a real impact.
