hela Sverige The Health Metrics unit is the co-ordinating unit for teaching and research in biostatistics, epidemiology and health economics at the Sahlgrenska Academy. The unit carries out research mostly based on large register data sets, although research related to clinical trials is also an important part of the research at the unit.
Research Fellow in medical statistics
SUBJECT AREA DESCRIPTION: The medical statistics research at the Health Metrics unit is primarily focused on analysis of register data for different health and medical research issues. Research related to clinical trials is also an important area. JOB ASSIGNMENTS: The tasks include research related to ongoing projects on medical statistics and teaching (medical) statistics at one or several of the education programs at Sahlgrenska Academy.
ELIGIBILITY: Qualified for appointment as research fellow (forskarassistent) is a person who has been awarded a PhD degree or have achieved equivalent academic qualifications. Priority should be given to candidates who have been awarded a PhD or achieved equivalent qualifications no more than seven years before the application deadline. Candidates who graduated earlier may also be given primary consideration if there are special reasons. Special reasons are considered to be a leave of absence due to illness, parental leave for example. Reason, dates and extent must be clearly specified in the application and verified with the relevant documentation. ASSESSMENT: Research potential in line with the description of the tasks will be the main criteria in evaluating applicants, i.e. especially regarding applied statistics based on health register data. Teaching skills and experiences are further the second criteria for prioritization, especially regarding teaching (medical statistics) to health and medical students. Knowledge and experience in statistical software commonly used in our teaching (SPSS, Stata, R) is a strong merit. The candidate is expected to teach in English. Knowledge in the Swedish language is also a strong merit, but not required. The successful applicant may also be asked to complete an educational training program within the first year of employment.
