Dina arbetsuppgifter
In order to strengthen the team working at the soft X-ray SPECIES beamline for RIXS - Resonant inelastic X-ray Spectroscopy - and APXPS - Ambient Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, we are now seeking to hire a research engineer with a background and interest in soft X-ray synchrotron radiation based techniques and instrumentation.

The SPECIES beamline is currently under construction. The beamline is planned to be installed and commissioned during 2017 and is expected to be open for outside users in early 2018 at the 1.5 GeV storage ring of the MAX IV facility. In the construction and commissioning phase you, as a research engineer at SPECIES, will participate in the design, installation and commission of the beamline and its two endstations in collaboration with the staff at the beamline within the established organization of MAX IV Laboratory. In the operations phase you will share responsibility for operation and user support, maintenance, and further development of the beamline with the teams of scientists and engineers that will be built up around the SPECIES and other beamlines. The user support involves contact with the users before their experiments in order to make sure that all necessary technical preparations and other prerequisites are in place for the experiments. During their experiments at MAX IV, you will support and guide the users. Together with our users and you colleagues at MAX IV you will thus facilitate world leading research at the world's most brilliant light source.

Kvalifikationer
We see that you have a university degree in natural sciences or engineering subjects of relevance for soft X-ray beamlines and that you have a solid background in the techniques and technologies relevant for the beamline and the research planned for it. A PhD degree is considered an advantage. Demonstrated experience in the design, construction, including also the planning, running, and maintenance stages, of complex scientific equipment is a merit. Demonstrated practical experience of developing, running, and maintaining equipment for RIXS as well as UHV and APXPS including sample environments, gas handling systems, and analyzers relevant for the techniques is considered a merit. Demonstrated experience with ultrahigh vacuum technologies and good knowledge of general soft X-ray instrumentation and spectroscopies are considered further merits. You have demonstrated experience in working at synchrotron radiation facilities as a user and/or beamline staff. You have excellent command of English, both oral and written, very good communication skills, and good team working skills including also ability to work independently and plan your own time.

We kindly decline all sales and marketing contacts.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.
