MAX IV is a national large-scale research laboratory providing scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world with instruments for research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.



We are looking for a new team member to join the Radiation Safety Team, part of the Safety Group, at MAX IV Laboratory.

As the successful candidate, you have working experience with radiation safety from a large scale facility, such as a synchrotron light facility or neutron facility.

Your work and responsibilities include:

- Radiation safety simulations with FLUKA software for beamlines and accelerators
- Design of radiation safety shielding components for beamlines and accelerators
- Radiological risk assessments
- Quality assurance and documentation according to regulations and requirements by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority
- Daily radiation safety operation of the facility
- Contribute to further development of MAX IV Laboratory by taking part in technical and scientific projects

Qualifications:

- University degree in Physics or other subject of relevance for the position
- At least five years of working experience with radiation safety/radiation computation, with a comprehensive understanding of the typical nuclear processes
- Experience with performing Monte-Carlo simulations with a focus on radiation safety in complex facilities
- Scientific software experience particularly in F90 or C++
- Documented experience in working with scientific and technical projects
- Ability to work in a team, good communication skills, and a good command of English
- Ability to work in a group with flat organisation structure and to take own initiative

Meriting Qualifications:

- Design of radiation safety components, and experience in working with 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks) and/or engineering analysis software (e.g. ANSYS)
- Knowledge in radiation safety legislation and experience from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority
