We are currently looking for a business driven Research Director Absorption & Skin to one of the two R&D departments within the Global Hygiene Category at Essity.

The Global Hygiene Category leads Essity's hygiene brand portfolio and delivers brand development and innovation within the product areas, Incontinence care, Baby care, Feminine care products, Consumer Tissue and Hygiene solutions.
As Research Director Absorption & Skin you work in close cooperation with the Categories to drive the Research platforms and deliver competence and ideas that supports the innovation and business needs. You are responsible for securing the right competence and resources within the Skin Health and Absorption areas to deliver business applicable ideas. You will be leading a group of Research Engineers and Scientist including Research laboratories.
As part of the R&D Management team your role is to bring the Research perspective to the agenda and together develop a strong R&D organization with excellence in development execution.
The Research Director Absorption & Skin reports to the Vice President R&D Personal Care and is part of the Management team. The position is located in Gothenburg.
Main Tasks
Lead and develop the assigned Research team in Skin Health and Absorption.
Secure the right competence, resources and methodologies to successfully execute the Research programs
Drive the Research programs and evaluate, validate and recommend technical solutions to support the business and brand needs both long and short term.
Gives qualified support to the Categories and Business Units in innovation projects, sales material and claims.
Proactively drive improvements to secure effective and efficient way of working in Research within R&D team as well as across organisation.
Keep up to date with trends and future demands in the assigned research areas, explore new technologies and transfer the findings into the organization.
Key Competencies
University Degree, minimum Master of Science, preferably PhD
At least 10 years of experience within relevant industries.
Strong and solid leadership experience
Preferably knowledge/experience in the area of hygiene, skin care and/or liquid management systems
Knowledge of the innovation process from idea to launch and working processes/tools
Fluent in English
Leadership capabilities
Demonstrated ability to lead a team of specialists and engage and influence others across disciplines, cultures and positions
Business driven- has the ability to transfer research findings to business opportunities
Business curiosity and comprehensive understanding of how the whole value chain works
Strong networking and interpersonal skills
Holistic thinking i.e. takes a broad stakeholder perspective and has the ability to understand stakeholder requirements, operational limitations and business opportunities
Customer & Consumer Driven
Excellent communication skills. Conveys a message. Inspires and motivates and has the ability to simplify and communicate complex matters in a meaningful and inspiring way
