Dina arbetsuppgifterA need has been identified for a deputy director that is expected to focus on operatively leading and supporting the researchers in their projects. As a part of the management team, the deputy director will have an important role in formulating Nordregios strategy for the coming years. As a Research Director you must be a proven leader, an excellent communicator, and an attentive, flexible manager.
Utbildning och erfarenhetWith the responsibility to coordinate, lead, and monitor internal research teams, a Research Director position requires experience in project development and project management. The geographic scope of the fields of interest must include an expert knowledge in at least one of the Nordic countries as well as a European perspective. Formally, the person should hold a PhD or have similar professional experience in economics, political science, sociology, human geography, statistics, or an associated discipline. In addition, at least 8 years of relevant work experience is required. Furthermore, the person is expected to bring an extensive network of relevant research and policy contacts to Nordregio. There is an explicit need for a people oriented leader, who is good in relation building and who enjoys coaching and supporting the employees. The coming Deputy Director should emphasize leadership and should have the ability to support and inspire the junior researchers and have the role as a partner to the senior researchers. You are creative and self-motivated, but you also excel in a cooperative research environment. Fluency in English is essential. Working proficiency in a Scandinavian language is also crucial, or having the willingness to acquire a working knowledge in a Scandinavian language; Swedish, Norwegian or Danish within a relatively short period of time.
