The Department of Economics at Stockholm University has just over 30 PhD researchers, of which 19 are professors and 8 associate professors. We also have about 40 doctoral students. These researchers and doctoral students carry out broad research which cover all fields in economics. See www.ne.su.se/english for further information.

Main responsibilities
This is a job advertisement for the position of research assistant at a research team centered at Stockholm University. The research assistant works closely with our team of researchers on several new and ongoing empirical projects on the economics of labor markets and inequality.

The team consists of Assistant Professor Arash Nekoei (IIES, Stockholm University), Assistant Professor Josef Sigurdsson (NEK, Stockholm University), Saman Darougheh (Danmarks Nationalbank), Patrizia Massner (NEK, Stockholm University), and Fabian Sinn (IIES, Stockholm University). The team uses large administrative datasets to help design better policies and expand the current boundary of our knowledge. The results from our research are published in the best economic journals.

As a research assistant, you will work closely with the research team. The team have weekly meetings to discuss the previous week's findings and plan the next steps and tasks. This way, the research assistant will get hands-on experience in executing a research project, moving from an idea to developing theoretical insights to empirical results. As a team member, s/he will learn about strategic decision-making in the development of a research project. The tasks of the research fellow include:

• Data management.
• Work with and analyze large datasets.
• Create statistical results and instructive figures to present results.

The position offers the opportunity to gain exposure to various stages of the research process and valuable training in using data-intensive methods, which will help pursue a Ph.D. in economics or related fields. The research assistant will gain invaluable experience analyzing large datasets with the details that Scandinavian microdata has to offer. The previous assistant in this position is now a Ph.D. student and has successful research projects together with team members.

Qualification requirements
The applicant must have strong quantitative skills and a strong background in one programming language such as Stata, R, or Python. Applicants need not have a degree in economics but should be interested in economics. Our preferred competencies of applicants are:

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment to solve problems.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time position with a maximum duration of two years. The start date is in June 2021 or by agreement.
