At the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering our students are studying to be for example innovators, entrepreneurs, illustrators, communications officers, network technicians and engineers. Here we have the research specialisations of Embedded Systems, and Innovation and Product Realisation. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

Position description
SALUTOGEN is a research project related with fall prevention for elderly. The project is based on promoting physical activity, which is demonstrated to be as a powerful prevention method. Therefore, SALUTOGEN aims at developing, in collaboration with several companies, a software infrastructure to promote physical activities. The software infrastructure will be made up of activity detectors, physical activity planners, social networking, and a cloud solution to coordinate the various stakeholders involved. The project will run from December 2017 to January 2020.
We seek a research assistant, to be employed half-time (50%), whose main responsibilities will be to support:
• design and development of the cloud infrastructure;
• selection of an appropriate solution for measuring physical activities with possible adaptations, if needed;
• design and development the activity planning tool;
• design and development of the social networking platform;
• design and development of the necessary coordination activities where the cloud plays the role of a pivot for all the stakeholders involved in the solution.
For the listed activities, the research assistant will be employed at MDH and will work in close collaboration with the companies and researchers involved in the project.
The position is a temporary employment for one year
Qualification requirements
The applicant is required to have a bachelor's/master's degree in computer science or a closely related discipline.

Merit
The research assistant should preferably hold a MSc degree in computer science (or be close to achieve it). S/he shall have solid experience in cloud computing and programming. Experiences in embedded/mobile applications programming and/or data analysis are also required. Experiences in similar team development scenarios, and with the latest privacy-aware protocol standards are considered as a plus.
