At the department of Rheumatology and Inflammation Research, Inflammation is the main topic of the research conducted within the department. Our research groups perform studies of inflammatory diseases, whether caused by allergy, infection, or autoimmune disease. The goal is to investigate the mechanisms underlying the body's tissues become inflamed. Many of our researchers are also working as a specialist physician at the clinic at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, which is also one of our greatest assets.

Arbetsuppgifter
The applicant will work with primary neutrophils from different sources and model cells in culture. Basic cell biological techniques will be used including blood and tissue neutrophil separation from both healthy donors and patients with
inflammatory diseases, cell culture, SDS-PAGE and Western blot, flow cytometry and chemiluminescence techniques for measuring reactive oxygen species as well as subcellular fractionation techniques that are fundamental in the investigation of neutrophil granule composition. Methods designed to follow different G-protein subtype utilization (Gi or Gq), phospholipase C - IP3 - Ca2+ pathway and b-arrestin pathway using the PathHunterTMb-arrestin/
b-galactosidase system will also be used.

Utbildning/Erfarenhet
The applicant should hold a Master degree in the subject of biochemistry or cell biology. Knowledge of immunomodulation and phagocyte biology as well as hands-on experience in working with phagocytes is merit.
