The department is part of the Vehicle Software & Electronics unit within R&D and is responsible for electrical systems and components in the areas of Driver Interaction (Instrument Cluster, Entertainment Displays, Switches, Climate Control), HMI and Infotainment (Audio, Navigation, Telephony, Bluetooth, Connectivity).

The group is called Project & Maintenance and are responsible for project management for the department.

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) leads the Android based Head Unit development together with the Product Manager (PM). This position is a challenging but exciting opportunity in one of Volvo Cars focus areas for the future.



Main responsibilities

* Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART
* Establish and communicate the annual rolling calendar for iterations and program increments (PI)
* Organize, drive and facilitate the PI planning event
* Aggregate team PI objectives into Program PI objectives and publish these for visibility and transparency
* Assist with execution and feature/capability completion tracking
* Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
* Work with product and solution management, product owners and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
* Report status and collaborate with the Solution Train Engineer (STE) and support related activities



Possibilities of development


This is a newly defined role for the department which will be challenging and make way for future Release train engineers for other areas.



Required qualifications

* 5+ years of relevant work experience, preferably as a project manager for larger software programs or similar
* BSc degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience
* Experience of working in an international environment
* Master the English language both spoken and in writing
* Business and end customer value understanding



Meritorious

* Documented experience of project management in the automotive industri

* Knowledge about scaling Lean and Agile into larger development programs
* Experience of product Development with SW and HW elements requiring a great amount of integration effort
* Knowledge of Volvo Cars development process in general as well as the electrical development process

* Genuine interest and engagement in management questions and personal development
* Ability to independently plan, drive and follow up your work towards objectives
* Structured, accurate and skilled to summarize and present status of your work
* Significant people skills and the innate ability to navigate the political landscape
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills: must effectively communicate with technical and non-technical teams, executive management, partners and customers
* Strong team player and relationship builder
* Ability to show courage and build confidence
