The Global Development team in Nacka is a vital part of the R&D organization for Adhesives within Wood Coatings, AkzoNobel. Our mission is to develop break-through technologies and products for the wood working industry, to defend our position as market leaders.
Our main customers are large factories all over the world producing laminated beams used for building constructions like sport arenas, bridges, airports et c. Our adhesives are also used in the production of parquet flooring and furniture's.
Main technologies used for these adhesive systems are amino resin, polyurethane and dispersion based chemistries. Sustainability is a key focus area for us and we continue to push the boundaries for what is possible. We look at the whole process and continuously drive the development towards more environmental friendly solutions, all along a product's life cycle.

The Development team consists of 9 dedicated chemists with various backgrounds, working closely together with the whole R&D team in Nacka (in total 30 employees). We work in a project driven organization, with a strong customer focus and the attitude that nothing is impossible. Team spirit and cooperation across functions are highly valued within our organization.

We now have an open position for a RD&I Project Manager who can lead and delegate work within the RD&I work stream in Development projects.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Responsibility for a project portfolio with several Development projects.

• Take an active role in developing new chemistries for adhesive synthesis

• As Technical Leader for a project, able to execute longer and complex projects (3 man years or longer) with minimal guidance of line manager.

• Lead and coach other Technical Leaders in their role, within own project portfolio.

• Use of strong project management techniques to enable effective work within own project portfolio's development projects. Responsibility for establishing clear project definitions, value, risk assessments, assigning milestones, planning and estimating resources and clear documentation of project work.

• Present status updates to senior management both inside and outside the RD&I function

• Work closely with Business Development, including Application Managers and Product Managers to create strong and clear business cases for new project proposals as well as in the delivering of Development projects.

• Responsibility to develop and strengthen our Technology Platform, including competence development for the whole team.

• PhD in polymer chemistry, organic chemistry or related disciplines or well proven industrial track record in polymer synthesis.
• At least 5 years' experience from product development, scale-ups and/or production trials.
• Strong and documented project management skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Experience in working with experimental design and multivariate analysis is considered an advantage.
• Ability to energize and motivate project team members.
• Strong communication skills, both in writing and verbally. Fluent in English.
• As a person you are entrepreneurial and curious, responsible and result oriented.

Varaktighet, arbetstid
This is a permanent position on a full time basis, based in Nacka and reporting to Adhesives Development Team Leader
