The R&D Supply Chain (R&DSC) function is accountable for the supply of medicines to AstraZeneca's clinical trials and toxicology studies. This includes demand and supply planning, drug substance manufacture, drug product manufacture, packaging and distribution to depots / clinical investigator sites. Clinical supply chains are amongst the most complex of any industry, operating under rigorous regulatory constraints, and with specialised requirements for treatment randomisation, material blinding, and multi-language labelling. Our customers are increasingly demanding more speed and agility, without compromising quality or risk, so we need well-managed, fit-for-purpose systems to meet these challenges.



AZ SmartSupplies system is a new global platform to support key supply chain activities including planning, manufacture, release, inventory management, labelling, traceability, shelf life management and reporting. The Supply Chain SmartSupplies Specialists will support R&DSC staff to create, manage and maintain high quality system and project data. This will require a broad range of system and business process knowledge and skills. The role holders will mainly support system management activities across all AZ SmartSupplies modules and interfaces and based on business needs there are also element of inventory and labelling activities in scope for the role. There are two positions available, one permanent position and one Secondment. The secondment will last until 2019-09-30. Main Duties and Responsibilities

The SmartSupplies specialist will perform and support wider Supply Chain organization via a variety of responsibilities. Main responsibilities are; support system change management and drive improvement including raising, implementing and closing change requests. In addition, the specialist will also support resolution of system incidents/problems and provide overall technical support. The SmartSupplies Specialist has a key role in improvement and validation work in connection to SmartSupplies system (and other GxP systems). New technological solutions to help AZ R&D Supply Chain operate more efficient and with improved quality is essential for AstraZeneca success in the pharmaceutical business. The Specialist will also be involved in inventory management i.e. upload of new reference data in to SmartSupplies system according Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and support development of regulatory compliant study labels using SmartSupplies LRA module.



Essential Requirements

* College/university degree in engineering/science preferred
* Demonstrated good time and stakeholder management
* Experience of effective working in a multi-cultural team
* Experience of drug substance or drug product development is highly valuable
* A track record of working and managing change in GxP systems is meritorious

* Excellent English, both verbally and written
* Proven analytical and strategic thinking
* Demonstration of high attention to detail
* Flexibility to react to different customer needs
