At ABB's global protection and control center for transmission applications we are looking for an experienced software manager who wants to become part of the R&D management team in Västerås, Sweden. In this role, you will be responsible to lead the Software team in Sweden as well as lead the software development globally together with our R&D units in Finland, Poland and Switzerland.

Together with the development teams, you will be a key player in defining the software roadmap, plan on how to fulfill market needs, drive processes, ensure quality and how to best utilize people competencies. A natural part of your job will be to cooperate with the corporate research units in ABB in order to develop state of the art software and software processes.

Tasks include:
• Managing a group of 10 SW developers - guide, coach and mentor software development engineers; provide project management skills as per scaled agile framework (SAFe); promote a culture of continuous improvements, always striving for quality and efficiency
• Driving resource and competence management globally within the software area
• Fostering a climate of innovation by motivating, guiding and empowering team members
• Identifying new technologies and tools to increase quality and productivity
• Ensuring effective knowledge-sharing to promote collaboration and develop new technological approaches and solutions
• Safeguarding quality assurance of all deliverables from the development team
• Driving and being responsible for the budget of the global software team

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced and passionate leader who can engage and drive the organization, on both the local and global level. You are eager to learn from our experienced staff, but also a driving force that will push our boundaries forward. You are results oriented and have high quality awareness. You need to be a good communicator and have strong people and leadership skills, as you will manage a team of ten and collaborate with many different stakeholders across different countries.

You have a proven track record in driving change in development practices and have experience of people management as a line manager or equivalent management position. You also have experience from international and cross-cultural collaboration and leadership. In addition, it is valuable if you have solid project management skills, with proficiency in leading development teams and/or development labs.

More specifically, we believe that you hold a Master's degree in computer science or another related discipline, or have the equivalent work experience. Previous work experience within industry software and/or power systems is meriting. You are proficient in English and have at least basic language skills in Swedish.

While not necessary, it will be beneficial for you to have a technical background in C, C#, and embedded real-time development (Linux, C++). Other beneficial, but not required experience and expertise include SW or IT (e.g. security, safety, communication protocols, system engineering, testing, performance engineering), a background in development tools such as Visual Studio, TFS and SonarQube, and knowledge of research and development practices and processes.
