hela Sverige AkzoNobel has formed a new team in 2016 for long term research and development in biobased materials, based around two of our most experienced scientists. The current team works with screening and scouting of new materials and technologies, implying extensive laborative work, scientific research studies and exploration of fundamental chemical properties of barrier materials.
The position is in this team, with graduate university studies (PhD) being the first step in your career.
A collaboration has started with Mid Sweden University, and as part of that collaboration AkzoNobel is now aiming to employ a PhD student within the FORIC student program. The position is placed in Sundsvall, Sweden, partly at the Stockvik site and partly at Mid Sweden University.
Main responsibilities
Key objectives of this PhD student position is to strengthen the AkzoNobel business by:
• Participate in scientific studies and independently execute activities and sub-projects
• Contribute to explorative work and product related research in the new chemistry platform of biobased materials
• Contribute to the survey and communication of relevant external and scientific research in the field of biobased materials
• Contribute to the continuous build up of knowledge around new materials, processes and applications
• Educational level: Master of Science in Chemistry/Chemical engineering or eqiuvalent. Mid Sweden University stipulates that to be accepted as a graduate student, the applicant has to:
1. Hold an examina on advanced university level,
2. Fulfilled the course criterias for at least 240 Swedish university points, whereas at least 60 points are on an advanced university level,
3. Have at least 90 points in a field relevant to the research area for the graduate student, e.g polymer chemistry, physical chemistry or organic chemistry.
• Fluent in English, good communication level both verbally and in writing; experience in writing reports and presenting results
• Some experience within product related organic or polymer chemistry, syntheses, analyses and laborative work procedures
