BTG Instruments is looking for an R&D Chemist

General Summary

The BTG Instruments R&D Chemist will manage our laboratory and contribute with chemistry expertise in development projects and market activities, to fulfil our mission to offer measurement and control solutions that provide maximum value to our customers. We are thus seeking a skilled and detail-oriented chemist to oversee daily operations, conduct experiments, analyze data, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. The R&D team works in a dynamic and lean environment in close collaboration with other company functions and you will also lead pre-study and project activities for new products and applications. Responsibilities

Chemistry laboratory management

• Implement safety protocols, including safety documentation and trainings
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, 5S
• Maintain inventory of chemicals, equipment, and supplies
• Maintenance of laboratory instruments for pulp, paper, filtrate, and liquids

Measurements

• Develop and maintain instructions for standard measurements, perform trainings
• Perform measurements as required to support projects and also product and market support activities
• Reporting of measurement results and conclusions, written and orally

Manage relationship and agreement with Karlstad University for utilization of special equipment and test methods, perform measurements as required.

As required; lead pre-study and project activities according to the R&D process:

• Product development according to specifications and quality requirements
• Follow time plan and budget
• Manage project team resources, in-house/remote and internal/external
• Project reporting
• Internal and external project interactions

As required; perform application development work in cooperation with e.g. product managers.

Responsible for own personal safety, the safety of the team.

Work in accordance with and enforce compliance with all BTG's policies (ex: Safety, Code of Conduct, Commercial Policy, Security Policy and Export Compliance) to maintain BTG's reputation and image.

• Collaborative and good communication skills, verbally and orally

Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelor or Master degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• Project leading training or experience is an asset
• Education and experience from the pulp and paper industry is an asset
