hela Sverige The Programme Office at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a "Project Planning Manager".
Description of position/department
The Programme Office is a department responsible for planning, costing and engineering for the development and construction of the European Spallation Source. The department reports to the ESS Programme Director who is responsible for the total ESS programme. The Programme Office currently consists of 3 people but recruitment is ongoing and two to three more people will join the team within the next 6 months.
Description of main responsibilities
The Project Planning Manager will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of projects in the European Spallation Source development and construction programme. The Project Planning Manager reports to the Programme Office Manager.
Specifically the responsibility is to
• Create and maintain plans and schedules for projects in the design phase and during the construction of the European Spallation Source.
• Esure that the project/sub-project plans are aligned with the top-level planning.
• Make project forecasts.
• Monitor and report project performance and progress through Earned Value management.
• Support the project managers in the planning and reporting process.
• Participate in establishing processes for planning, reporting and monitoring projects as well as participating in other activities performed by the Programme Office.
Qualifications
• Master of Science, Master of Business Administration or other relevant degree/experience.
• Experience of working in a complex (both technical but also organisational) project environment. Several years experience of planning and project control.
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential.
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.
Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period.
Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.

The European Spallation Source ESS AB will design, build and operate a multi-disciplinary, large-scale research infrastructure based on the world's most powerful neutron source. ESS will provide scientists with unique and powerful neutron scattering instruments for the study of a large range of materials - from polymers and pharmaceuticals to membranes and molecules. The ESS project is partnered by 17 European countries, and hosted by Sweden and Denmark. The ESS will be built in Lund, Sweden, by a collaboration of European scientists and engineers. ESS is planned to produce the first neutrons by 2019. When the facility is in full operation 2025, ESS has around 450 employees.
