The purpose of this position is to contribute to the financial performance and customer satisfaction results of a branch location by managing the complete, end-to-end installation of integrated Energy Retrofit/Performance Contracting installations on large projects.
This position reports directly to the Installation Manager or Branch Manager.
• Delivers installations within budget, on schedule and to the customer's satisfaction by ensuring the fulfillment of contractual obligations using the most technically appropriate and cost-effective installation techniques and engineering applications particularly in the field of Energy retrofit measures and M&E installations.
• Develops a comprehensive job plan using established job planning discipline that includes the sequencing of tasks, staff planning and working effectively and cooperatively with customers, sales, engineers, and branch support. Ensures that project deadlines, contract requirements, engineering specifications, and local code requirements are met at each job site.
• Ensures the availability of cost-effective and technically competent subcontractors on the project by negotiating agreements, establishing schedules and monitoring subcontractor performance.
• Contributes to the increased profitability of the project by supporting the selling of extra work orders or other project adds and by providing technical assistance to the Sales Department.
• Ensures an adequate supply of qualified craftsmen from local unions by working with Branch Management to maintain positive relationships with local members and leaders through judicious enforcement of national agreements and local work rules.
• Plans, forecasts and monitors labor, equipment, installation and subcontract costs.
• Selects and develops an effective installation staff capable of fulfilling the technological requirements on the project by ensuring personnel are well-trained, evaluated, compensated and managed consistent with H&BC policies and procedures.
• Ensures the timely collection of receivables by meeting customer billing requirements and managing the "Customer Acceptance Program."
• Ensures a safe work environment through the implementation of safe work practices and by providing safety training as needed.
• Participates in the project commissioning and close-out by assisting in the reduction of retainage and the pre-close-out review. Also conducts acceptance activities with the owner / CE and conducts the internal job close-out meeting, with subcontractors, engineering and service.
• Provides monthly project reporting according to project management best practice requirements.
Education and experience
• B.A. or B.S. Degree in Management of Technical Sciences such as mechanical or electrical engineering or project management.
