Sandvik Mining and Construction (SMC) is a world-leading supplier of equipment and complete solutions for the mining and construction industries.
We are now looking for a Project Manager that will manage and develop methods of working with projects according to the SMC project model and ensure that product design will be in compliance with safety and environmental requirements. The person selected for this role will have a great opportunity to show business results and develop further in a dynamic environment.
Key performance areas
As Project Manager your main responsibilities include:
• Develop detailed project schedule, budget and other supporting documentation (as per SMC Project Model) in collaboration with R&D team and also third-party engineering houses/resources, and based on input from the Product Line
• Ensure project schedule and delivery dates are met and the project comes in at or under budget
• Ensure product cost targets are achieved
• Clarify project scope and technical specifications with Product Line, where necessary
• Act as the principal liaison between Sandvik and third-party engineering houses/resources, furnishing technical information as necessary
• Ensure manufacturing readiness of new products (complete BOMs)
• Visit customers' mine sites to better understand their concerns and application conditions
• Ensure product designs are in compliance with safety requirements (as per project scope)
• Schedule product design reviews
You will report to the PDC Manager.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a degree in a relevant area and several years' experience of leading cross-functional project teams. Experience in the design of drilling equipment is preferred. In addition, experience in one or more of the following areas are advantageous: diesel engine installations, control systems or hydraulics.
As a person, you are analytical and think both strategically and globally, have integrity and drive, and are an excellent problem solver and relationship builder. Excellent communicative ability and fluent English, both written and verbal, are required.
