The Department of Biology and Environmental Science is part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The research activities within this multidisciplinary department include the areas of aquatic ecology, cell and organism biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, environmental science and environmental engineering as well as zoonotic ecology.

The Department of Biology and Environmental Science seeks a temporary project assistant to join the Marine Phytoplankton Ecology and Applications group to work in the European project FOCUS Facilitating Blue Growth with open courses by utilizing R&D products and virtual mobility. The candidate will work in multidisciplinary cross-border teams to develop digital learning in marine biotechnology and coastal tourism to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and transfer of good practices related to Blue Growth in the marine sector. The candidate will be the liaison to coordinate the development of digital and open courses in marine biotechnology and modules including online content in collaboration with the FOCUS partners. The candidate will assist teaching and tutoring course students. The position includes engaging in scientific outreach in the field of marine ecology and environmental science, maritime science and sustainability.

Qualification requirements
Applicants should have

• a Bachelor degree in Biology/Environmental Science.
• documented knowledge of sustainability aspects of the Baltic Sea
• documented experience of fluent writing and speaking skills in English and Swedish
• documented experience in using digital learning resources in higher education applied to the field of marine ecology, maritime science and sustainability
• experience of assisting teaching in the international classroom
• strong organizational skills
• experience of academic course administration in the Swedish education system

Other assessment grounds
Experience in coordinating workshops and conferences and writing popular science articles in English and Swedish is a benefit. Important personal qualities are to be creative, good at problem-solving, a team-worker, independent, resilient, and structured.

Terms of employment
The position is time limited (22 months), 100%. Planned starting date is February 1, 2018
