At the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering our students are studying to be for example innovators, entrepreneurs, illustrators, communications officers, network technicians and engineers. Here we have the research specialisations of Embedded Systems, and Innovation and Product Realisation. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.Employment information

Positions description
In the role as Professor of Industrial Systems with focus on Operations and Maintenance Engineering, you are expected to actively contribute to the development of research in dependable systems and to take a leading role in the national and international profiling of the group. You are expected to collaborate with other professors and researchers within the Academy of Innovation, Design and Engineering as well as with other researchers at the university/colleges and in national and international research environments and with the surrounding society to jointly develop knowledge to contribute to the industrial transition. You have a leading role in the initiation and preparation of research applications and the implementation of research projects. The position includes in addition, supervision of doctoral students and junior researchers as well as teaching at doctoral and master's level.
Qualification requirements
We are looking for you who partly have documented teaching skills and partly have academic skills.
Academic skills will have been demonstrated by independent research work which to a significant degree exceeds the requirements for docent competence (see the University's Guidelines for assessment of docent competence). Importance is also attached to the planning and leading of research. Teaching skills will have been demonstrated by teaching at first-cycle as well as third-cycle levels.
Academic and teaching skills shall be documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.
The applicant should have completed ten weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. A person appointed as a Professor but lacking training in higher education teaching and learning will be offered in-house training within two and a half years. The course in higher education teaching and learning at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.
In addition to the established basic eligibility requirements, according to the Appointment Regulations for MDU, some additional requirements apply to this position.
Furthermore, we expect you to have documented experience of:
• Successful collaboration with academic and industrial partners.
• Leading major research and collaboration initiatives
• Strong research profile in industrial maintenance and dependability
• Obtaining external funding at both national and international levels.
Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria will be based partly on the degree of skill required for the position and partly on the ability and suitability otherwise required to carry out the work duties.
In addition to the established basic assessment criteria, according to the Appointment Regulations for Mälardalens University, some additional criteria apply to this position.
In an overall assessment of suitability, emphasis is also placed on personal abilities. All employees at MDU are expected to cooperate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the organisation and their own work duties and contribute to a positive work environment.
This role requires the ability to think strategically and achieve strategic objectives and the ability to lead others towards common goals.
Ability to communicate in Swedish and English both orally and in writing.
