This position is placed at the Department of Radiology, Institute of Clinical Sciences. The Department of Radiology is responsible for research, graduate studies and teaching at the undergraduate level within the medical program and radiology nursing program. The department also organizes regular courses and regional training programs for residents in radiology training and specialists. The department is moreover responsible for academic affairs for approximately 125 radiologists at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The Department has presently one professor/senior consultant with research focusing on abdominal radiology (retirement 2017); one professor specialized in MRI and one senior lecturer/consultant with a focus on thoracic radiology. In addition, there are two adjunct senior lecturers/consultants. In addition, besides access to medical radiological equipment in the radiology department, Department of radiology is also directing the animal experimental MR facility.

Beskrivning av arbetsuppgifter: SPECIFIC SUBJECT DESCRIPTION: The field includes diagnosis of diseases, injuries and malformations of the brain, spinal cord and other parts of the nervous system. The field also includes the ear, nose and throat region (ENT). Included in the topic is the research of novel imaging techniques for diagnosis, and therapeutic planning and guidance. We expect that the candidate will establish multidisciplinary collaboration with specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, oncology, dentistry, and ear, nose and throat, as well as other suitable specialties.

JOB ASSIGNMENTS: Research and teaching are regarded as the main duties. Lead research in the field, and be responsible for the development of evidence-based methods and techniques in neuroimaging. Establish partnerships with research active clinical colleagues and clinical specialists in related fields. The emphasis of the position is expected to be on research and research supervision. Teaching and supervision at the undergraduate medical program, radiology nursing/technology program, specialist education in radiology and neuroradiology, as well as continued further education in the specialty. An important part is the supervision of doctoral students. The candidate is expected to participate in departmental and institutional administrative tasks. The candidate is expected to take responsibility for the overall research planning, technique development and teaching within this field. Clinical service is part of the position.

ELIGIBILITY: The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Demonstrated scientific and pedagogical skills. Qualification as a registered medical practitioner and specialist in radiology and neuroradiology, or radiology with extensive, documented competence in neuroradiology.

ASSESSMENT: Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. The first assessment criterion is scientific skills. The second assessment criterion is pedagogical skills followed by clinical service skills and administrative skills. Great importance will be given ability to cooperate. The successful applicant may also be asked to complete an educational training program within the first year of employment.
