The School of Business and Economics hosts the subject field of economics at Linnaeus University. Education is offered at first-, second- and third-cycle levels. The PhD programme in economics is conducted in collaboration with other universities. The applicant is expected to participate in teaching at all levels. Research is carried out in the fields of demographic economics, labour economics and public economics. The applicant is expected to contribute to at least one of these fields.

Subject field for the appointment: Economics.
Placement city: Kalmar or Växjö. Most of the work will be carried out in the placement city; however, the appointment also involves working at the other geographic location. Seminars and supervision of PhD students are primarily held in Växjö.

Job description
Linnaeus University has a long tradition of research in economics. Ongoing work aims to organize research, seminars and education within knowledge platforms. The new knowledge platform "Demographic change and the public sector" will be launched by 1 January 2020. This platform will host the Linnaeus University Centre for Discrimination and Integration Studies (LNUC), consisting of researchers from the fields of economics, psychology and political science.

The applicant is expected to conduct her or his research, teaching and supervision in at least one of the following areas: demographic economics, labour economics or public economics. The applicant is expected to have experience of academic leadership and a good record of successful applications for external funding. The applicant is also expected to contribute to the competence development of fellow staff members. A demonstrated ability to communicate in spoken and written English is important. The candidate chosen for the position is expected to be proficient in Swedish after a period of two years.

Requirements
Doctoral degree within the subject field and proven teaching skills are required. The applicant must have scientific and pedagogical merits in at least one of the three fields of demographic economics, labour economics and public economics. A good ability to carry out education and research in English must be demonstrated. Documented collaboration skills, documented experience of supervising PhD students and documented leadership of successful research projects are required.

Other assessment grounds
The applicant shall have documented experience of obtaining external research funding as the main applicant. Great importance will be attached to the applicant's willingness to participate in the daily work of the department.

Relative importance of assessment grounds
Importance will be attached to skills in all three areas: pedagogical, scientific and collaboration skills. Given the fact that the majority of the professors at the faculty are men, female applicants are particularly welcome.

Terms of employment
Starting date as agreed. The appointment is placed within the Department of Economics and Statistics.
