Alstom Sweden sells and supplies a wide range of products, e.g. gas and steam turbines, hydro power systems, generators and flue-gas cleaning plants, as well as trains and other products in the field of transportation.
The headquarters are located in Norrköping. Other main sites are Västerås, Växjö and Stockholm. Altogether, 800 people work at Alstom's three branches in Sweden, ALSTOM Power Sweden AB, ALSTOM Hydro Sweden AB and ALSTOM Transport AB. Quality and respect for the environment are key issues that characterise the activities.
Responsibilities
As Production Technology Engineer you are a part of the engineering department for turbo generators. The mission of the engineering department is to be fully capable to dimension and design a complete turbo generator as well as supporting and trouble shouting on site. The further work consists mainly of rehabilitation of old generators and generator components, rotor and stator rewinds, to fit new requirements. We work on generator fleet manufactured in Västerås as well as on non-ALSTOM fleets.
We are a team of about 20 people with broad and deep competences with a well-established network with colleagues within ALSTOM worldwide, and two Production Technology Engineers are placed within this group. All our manufacturing takes place on several factories all over the world, and we are even striving for "on site delivery" which means that as much as possible of the work shall be performed at site. The engineering work of production technology consists of participation in the design work to create products that are simple to manufacture. But it even consists of creating competitive tools to reach the "on site delivery" concept and, of course, trouble shooting or support to production on site or in factories. The engineering department creates all engineering work for the tender, order and development projects.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a technical degree in Mechanical Engineering or corresponding competence by work experience in the field. Some experience from manufacturing of rotating electrical machines is essential, but can partly be compensated by large and wide experience from different productions. You do need to have demonstrated successful experience in a similar role. As a person you need to have the ability to set and work with deadlines, organize and see the solution in issues. Experience from databases and computers is required. Fluency in written and spoken English is necessary.
