Consumer Board division develops and provides consumer packaging boards for printing and packaging applications. A wide board and barrier coating selection is suitable for the design and optimization of packaging for liquid, food, pharmaceutical and luxury goods. We serve brand owners globally and are expanding in growth markets such as China and Asia Pacific to meet rising demand.
Consumer Board division is looking for a Product Safety Director to have an important role in coordinating and leading our Product Safety agenda.

In this position, you will be the spider in the net and coordinate, give support and provide subject matter expertise in product safety matters across the product safety teams in mills/R&D, in relation to customers and R&D projects.
You will report to Operations and until further notice to SVP Operations, with dotted lines to R&D and Consumer Board business units

Responsibilities

* Product safety coordination enhancement and harmonization and technical support across the product safety teams in mills/R&D. Develop internal training program to disseminate product safety related knowledge
* Responsible sourcing: product safety issues incorporated into supplier contracts in relevant sourcing categories (audit support if needed)
* Harmonizing of new chemicals safety approval process/risk management across mills
* Divisional product safety digitalization project initiation and coordination (uniform data access/management and harmonization, optimization for cross-sharing of information, supplier product safety data management etc)
* ERM and other risk monitoring related to product safety
* Consumer Board business unit point of contact for customer product safety information and insight, related queries and meetings, product safety related responses to SCoC questionnaires and support in customer meetings related to product safety
* Development of a customer product safety value proposition around product safety as a competitive differentiator
Collaboration with the divisional Sustainability team on product safety matters and updates as part of the broader Consumer Board sustainability agenda
* Responsible for the Customer product safety information and development of related product communication materials and marketing materials, incorporation of product safety information to existing materials
* Product TARIC Code definition / updates
* Media responses on product safety issue claims related to CB products
* Subject matter expert and advisor support in R&D projects involving food contact or new materials/chemicals
* Active role in various Product safety related assignment/ assessments /research projects.
* Regulatory mapping of relevant product safety related issues and updates related to key EU and other manufacturing/product destination countries
* EU Regulatory insight via CEPI as Consumer Board representative in the CEPI product safety forum with regular updates to divisional stakeholders including the Product safety teams, Product Management, Sustainability and IRD
* Identification, engagement and support on relevant non FCM product safety legislation concerning packaging (Toys, Hazardous substances, medical device)
* Act as advisor for long term competence and resource planning of R&D and divisional product stewardship and compliance resources



Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Economics, Engineering, Forestry, Chemistry or relevant other areas
* More than 10 years' working experience in relevant field
* Good knowledge of the packaging industry with strong interest in consumer trends, packaging design and packaging materials
* Good business understanding
* Result- and solution oriented
* Structured and organised, with attention to detail
* Very good team/networking and communication skills
* Excellent written and spoken English, with other language skills an advantage
* Willingness to travel
