Would you like to contribute to the safer use of medicines globally? Are you passionate about customer focused product development? We are looking for a Product Owner within our Vigi product portfolio. With us, you will expand your skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is an independent, non-profit foundation and international centre for medicines safety and scientific research. The organization is the custodian of VigiBase, which is the largest global database of suspected adverse events of medicines and vaccines. In addition to working with drug safety signal monitoring, UMC has developed WHODrug Global, which is the world's most widely used drug dictionary, and is advancing pharmacovigilance through science and innovation and education and communication.

UMC is governed by a board consisting of members appointed by the Swedish government and WHO, and has approximately 150 employees based in Uppsala (Sweden).

What you will do
As a product owner, you will work with the product managers to understand our customer needs and within the product portfolio strategy translate them into product requirements. You will work closely with our development team to ensure seamless communication between customers and team.

You will act as a leader within our organisation and contribute to a positive working environment while promoting a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and putting customers first. In this sense it is important that you apply lean and agile principles: build, measure, learn.

You will be responsible for:

- Supporting the Product manager in transforming customer needs to roadmaps and product backlog items.
- Managing the product backlog in compliance with roadmaps, time constraints, budget, and prioritisations.
- Providing a single point of contact to the development team to handle their questions, priorities, and concerns.

- Cooperating with the Product specialist and Product manager to develop the product.
- Communicating with users about products and receiving feedback. Analysing external feedback and creating organisational buy-in for new features.

Qualifications and experience

- Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, data science, or life sciences.
- Extensive experience with developing software-based products and/or SaaS solutions.
- Experience working within agile settings and understanding of and familiarity with system engineering concepts, maintain and prioritise product backlog, MVP, and business model canvas and product canvas tools.
- Experience of product planning processes and product feature development.
- Experience, at least working knowledge, of quality and compliance standards to help ensure our products are developed in accordance with those standards.
- Fluent in written and oral English.

We would appreciate if you have:

- Experience of working in a Pharmaceutical/CRO/Life science industry or similar.
- Experience with, knowledge of, or at least some kind of interest for AI.
- Experience of working in a regulated environment.
- Any language skills besides English.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is a centre for international service and scientific research in the field of pharmacovigilance. We are the WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring, and manage the technical and operational aspects of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring since 1978.

As an independent, non-profit foundation, we support the World Health Organization, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders who share our vision of advancing medicines safety. Through research and development of new scientific methods, we explore the benefits and harms of medicines for patients, and offer products and services used by health authorities and the pharmaceutical industry worldwide

UMC's working language is English. We normally apply a probationary period to new appointments.

UMC follows the collective agreements between the Swedish Agency for Government Employers and Saco-S and ST. Union representatives are Malin Zaar (Saco-S) and Jessica Avasol (ST), +46 (0)18-65 60 60.
