Would you like to deliver innovative solutions for the safer use of medicines globally? We are looking for a Product Manager for WHODrug Global to drive development to meet the needs of users and regulatory expectations. With us, you will expand your skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is an independent, non-profit foundation and international centre for medicines safety and scientific research. The organisation is the custodian of VigiBase, which is the largest global database of suspected adverse events of medicines and vaccines. In addition to working with drug safety signal monitoring, UMC has developed WHODrug Global, which is the world's most widely used drug dictionary, and is advancing pharmacovigilance through science and innovation and education and communication.

UMC is governed by a board consisting of members appointed by the Swedish government and WHO, and has approximately 150 employees based in Uppsala, Sweden.

What you will do
In the role of Product Manager, you will be focusing on the WHODrug portfolio. In close collaboration with your Product management colleagues, you will develop and maintain relationships with our customers to ensure fit-for-purpose products and customer service. You will actively seek an understanding of their current and future needs and demands and, in that sense, act as a bridge between the market and the internal product owners. You will weigh risk, benefit, and cost to optimize value for all stakeholders, including UMC. In terms of software development, you will add knowledge to the product team and lever the use of AI, a relatively new but important application for the product.

You will be responsible for:

- Creating products that meet external customer requirements as well as ensuring organisational buy-in and support to the portfolio strategies as defined by the Portfolio officer.
- Setting priorities and driving development throughout the product development process. This includes preparing vision boards and product roadmaps for the UMC business development process, interacting with the target group to develop requirements, cooperating with product specialists and product owners to create optimal solutions, and supporting the product launch.
- Managing product maintenance to ensure customer satisfaction. This includes evaluating customer requirements, cooperating with experts in regulatory authorities and analysing product and technology improvement proposals.

Qualifications and experience

- BSc or MSc in engineering, data science or life sciences.
- Extensive experience with developing a software-based product and/or SaaS solutions.
- Experience working within agile settings and understanding of/familiarity with system engineering concepts, business model canvas and product canvas tools, and concepts such as 'minimum viable product' and 'viable product'.
- Experience with agile planning processes and product launches.
- Fluent in written and oral English.

We would also welcome:

- Experience of working in a pharmaceutical/CRO/life sciences industry or similar.
- Experience with, knowledge of, or at least some kind of interest in AI.
- Experience of working in a regulated environment.
- Any language skills besides English.

As a person, we would like you to have:

- Exceptional communicative skills: the ability to communicate and inspire enthusiasm, to listen, interpret, and translate customers' needs, and to instruct and educate customers.
- Ability to build credibility by interpreting internal stakeholders' concerns, creating buy-in for solutions, and adapting the value message for customers accordingly.
- Analytical skills to anticipate and resolve problems and a pragmatic attitude to pursue resolving actions.
- Creativity to develop solutions and new product innovations based upon internal and external stakeholders' feedback.
- Commercial and service-minded philosophy to serve and develop our customer relations.
- Commitment, drive, but most of all the social skills to work well with others.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is a centre for international service and scientific research in the field of pharmacovigilance. UMC's working language is English. We normally apply a probationary period to new appointments.

UMC follows the collective agreements between the Swedish Agency for Government Employers and Saco-S and ST. Union representatives are Malin Zaar (Saco-S) and Jessica Avasol (ST), +46 (0)18-65 60 60.
